My specimen came in, now what?
If your specimen came without any fluid in the Jar, or you have your own jar, follow these instructions.
Put on the proper PPE before handling your specimen. And make sure your in a well ventilated are. you are working with something that at one point had or still has formaldehyde on or in it. (gloves provided)
Wash and dry your jar or container really well.
Remove specimen from packaging and Gently rinse with room temperature DISTILLED water.
Fill jar/container almost to the top with 70% rubbing alcohol. If you know or prefer a better substitute, your more then welcome to use that.
Close lid firmly and wipe anything that spilled over.
Make sure to put everything that has been exposed to formalin or any fluids into separate bag and throw away.
